Reviving a whiskey recipe first documented in 1892 during Irish Pot Still whiskey’s golden age.
This limited-edition release brings to life our historic Vintage Mashbill No.1, a recipe published in The Manufacture of Whisky and Plain Spirit by JA Nettleton, a leading figure on the science of distilling.
Distilled and matured entirely at Boann Distillery in Co Meath, this Winter Solstice Single Cask 2024 release was aged in an Oloroso Sherry hogshead for nearly four years and bottled at cask strength, 61.3% ABV, with only 270 bottles available.
“Crafted with 30% malted barley, 60% unmalted barley, and 10% oats, it offers a bold departure from modern whiskey norms and embodies our mission to honour tradition while pushing the boundaries of contemporary distilling.”
Boann’s Solstice releases have become a tradition with the distillery paying homage to its proximity to Newgrange by coinciding its whiskey releases with the Summer and Winter Solstices.
A bold and innovative whiskey with a rich, savory-sweet profile and an unforgettable finish. The incredibly rare smoky oloroso cask and unique mashbill elevate this release into a decadent, mouth-coating experience.
